Well, here we go! My very own, hot off the press, homeschool blog!

Note, dear non-existant (as of yet) readers: I’ve chosen to blog about our homeschool journey because it’s simply the best system I can think of to document some of our adventures, essay my brain around theory texts, keep track of ideas that I want to use some time in the future, and keep my thoughts and plans organized. The fact that it’s a public system is secondary. But maybe it will help motivate me to keep up the documenting, essaying, tracking, and organizing.

A little about our crew. I am the mother to two little ones. In honor of this new public venue, they’ve each been christened with a blogosphere name.

May I introduce Pearl, age 3, resident photographer, dancer, and princess:

And Monkey, age 1, who climbs, squeezes, and tumbles into all sorts of adventures:

We are new on the homeschooling scene and spend our days reading fantastic picture books, playing hopscotch in the living room, and learning dangerous and thrilling new skills like how to cut with scissors. I’m a pretty eclectic homeschooler so far, drawn to the works of Maria Montessori, Charlotte Mason, Susan Wise Bauer, and Oliver & Rachel DeMille. I’m sure at some point, that list will be shortened as I learn and study each theory in-depth and find my personal groove.

So, without further ado, here beginneth the book of the tales of homeschooling (and bonus points to anyone who can correctly identify my somewhat random reference).
