The Roller Coaster Ride
Hello, friends. Can you forgive me for the 4-month long silence? I’m here to announce that I’m back and excited to start posting again! These past 4-months have been quite the roller coaster ride.

Good thing our family likes roller coasters! (That's Pearl in the purple shirt with a look of pure delight on her face.)
Because of a number of changes in our family (including my husband’s decision to try working from home and other bits and pieces), I got to the point where homeschooling was becoming more of a burden than a joy. Don’t get me wrong–I adore my little ones and love thinking up new activities. And I’m still a total Montessori junkie. I could just feel the weight of responsibility resting heavily on my shoulders and that, coupled with other stresses brought into our lives, led me to make a new choice. I decided to send Pearl to preschool. We are fortunate enough to have the most wonderful Montessori preschool in our area with a fantastic teacher who truly loves her students. It’s just a lovely environment where the children feel safe and have access to so many great materials. With this resource close to home, I knew Pearl would be in wonderful hands.
And just today I got the best news! Her teacher has invited me to work in the classroom as an assistant! I am just over the moon about this. Not only will I get to be there as Pearl learns and explores, but I will get to work in a real-life Montessori classroom! On top of this, Monkey will be joining us in the classroom and he will get to work and learn at his own sweet almost-2-year-old pace. I am just so excited about how much we are all going to learn and so grateful for this amazing opportunity! I look forward to working with these sweet children and learning how to apply all this theory I’ve been reading. I also see this as a great stepping stone leading me toward my ultimate goal of someday running my own Montessori preschool.
So, excitement is in the air! Upcoming posts to watch for: More on Absorbent Mind, a darling spider web craft, and notes from the trenches as I set out on my new teaching adventure.
